Chris: I am a realist. I believe there are good and bad people. My wife is an optimist. She believes there are good people and good people who just make bad choices. Sometimes, her positivity causes me to worry, thinking that her naive outlook will get her hurt. Other times, her positivity is contagious. Here is how she tames my negativity and balances us out as a couple. Michelle: I think there are several easy ways to stay positive. I use the acronym LIVE every day and in every situation to remember to approach with positivity.  L is for LOVE. Whether the situation is with Chris, a coworker or a…

Everything We Need to Know We Learned…From a Baby?

    May 19, 2025 / 1 Comment

Grandparenthood has been all we dreamed it would be – and more.  We have loved every moment!  Our grandson is nearly 7 months old and changing rapidly.  He is learning new things every day.   As he lay peacefully sleeping in my arms recharging his little batteries, it dawned on me that he isn’t the only one learning.  In many ways, the student has become the teacher. We have learned so much from our little guy!

    I Get to Love You

    February 10, 2025 / 2 Comments

Click HERE to listen to the beautiful song, I Get to Love You by Ruelle JULIE Today I completed my 60th lap around the sun. It is a day of reflection, of looking back at my life through the rear-view mirror. I have learned the hard way that growing older is indeed a privilege. As I glance across the room at John, I am so grateful for the privilege, especially that we completed the last 35 laps hand-in-hand. I…

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

    October 27, 2024 / No Comments

Last week we were separated by a business trip. We made a point of connecting with each other each day over the phone, but the physical separation and reality of being in two very separate places is always a bit of a struggle for us.

It never fails. You’re listening to the radio in the car and a song comes on. And it’s THAT song and you can’t help but sing along. The words speak to you, the tune grabs you, and you feel the song all the way down to the depths of your soul.

    An Attitude of Gratitude

    August 4, 2024 / 1 Comment

Many years ago, we attended a meeting which began with a presentation titled, “Having an Attitude of Gratitude.” Through the course of that day, we learned that gratitude is ever so much more than a feeling. Gratitude is also a decision. We can choose an attitude of gratitude. We can decide to be grateful even during difficult and painful times. Over the years, we have experienced the difference being grateful makes in our lives and in our relationship.
